£150 to £240 for the standalone printer, adding £60 to £100 if a working AMS lite multi-colour unit is included. The ceiling is hard: Bambu's own sales regularly put a brand-new A1 at £238 to £280 with full warranty, so a used unit priced near £250 is simply the wrong buy.
Yes, in one specific way. A1s sold before 30 January 2024 were recalled because the heatbed cable could short-circuit and spark. Units with documented proof of the free replacement heatbed sell normally; units where the seller cannot confirm the recall work are worth £40 to £60 less — budget for verifying the serial with Bambu Lab support and doing the replacement yourself, or avoid them entirely.
The gap on the used market is roughly £200 to £300. Pay it if you need ABS or ASA — the P1S's enclosure is what makes those materials reliable. If you print PLA and PETG, the open-frame A1 produces comparable quality at comparable speed for less than half the money, and the saving covers an AMS lite with change.
Only at the right price. The A1's new street price falls to £238 to £280 in Bambu Lab's frequent sales, so a used unit needs to be £180 or below before the saving justifies giving up the warranty and the certainty of a post-recall heatbed. At £150 to £170 for a low-hours machine with the recall work documented, it is genuinely good value.
