Quadruped robot comparison
Last updated 26 August 2026
The Go2 and Go2 Pro share the same chassis, gait hardware, and 4D LIDAR — which is exactly why buyers get caught out. The gap is in what Unitree lets each trim do: the base/Air version is speed-limited in software and has no official SDK, while the Pro adds faster locomotion, more onboard compute, and supported programmability. New, the gap is around £500; used, it narrows to a few hundred pounds, and the used market for both is thin enough that trim mislabelling is a genuine hazard.

Choose Unitree Go2
Choose the base Go2 if you want a quadruped to run, follow, and demo from the app and you never intend to write code for it. You keep the same chassis and LIDAR as the Pro for £500 less new and typically £300–£600 less used — money better spent on a spare battery pack.
★ Choose Unitree Go2 Pro
Choose the Go2 Pro if there is any chance you will program the robot. Official SDK access, the higher speed cap, and extra compute are what the used market is actually paying for — the Pro is the trim rising on the Resale Index, and it will be the easier of the two to sell on.
Bottom line
For pure hobbyist use the base Go2 is the value pick, and the hardware you touch is largely the same. For anyone with development ambitions the Pro is worth the premium twice over — once in capability, and again at resale, where SDK-equipped trims are the ones appreciating.
